Vacancies - Citizen Appointments for Committees

TAKE NOTICE that the Township of Guelph/Eramosa is inviting applications from persons who wish to represent the Township in the following positions for the upcoming four year term of Council, from December 1, 2018 to November 14, 2022.


POUNDKEEPER (1 position available)
In accordance with the Pounds Act, the Poundkeeper shall investigate and cause to be impounded any large animal and farm livestock, other than dogs, found being at large or trespassing on public or private property or public road allowance and cause them to be sold, if they are not claimed within a reasonable time.
 

Payment for this position is $90.00 per call, plus mileage, subject to Council approval.


FENCE VIEWERS (3 positions available)
The Line Fences Act provides a procedure, administered by the local municipality, for resolving line fence disputes between adjoining properties. Line fence disputes may be arbitrated by fence viewers when the owners are unable to reach an agreement when a new line fence is to be constructed or an existing line fence is to be reconstructed or repaired. Fence viewers will meet when required and will not have a set meeting schedule.
 

Payment for this position is $90.00 per call, plus mileage, subject to Council approval.

PROPERTY STANDARDS COMMITTEE (3 positions available)
The Township of Guelph/Eramosa has set standards for the maintenance and occupancy of properties within its boundaries.  The function of this committee is to hear appeals, filed by owners or occupants of property within the Township of Guelph/Eramosa, after they have been served with an order to maintain their property according to the standards prescribed by Property Standards By-law 50/2018.  The Property Standards Committee will meet when required and will not have a set meeting schedule.
 

Payment for this position is $75.00 per meeting, subject to Council approval.

COMMITTEE OF ADJUSTMENT (3 appointments)
The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body and its main function is to consider Minor Variance applications to the Township’s Zoning By-law, in accordance with the provisions of the Planning Act.  The Committee may meet up to twice a month in the evening, dependent upon applications submitted to the Committee.
 

Payment for this position is $75.00 per meeting, subject to Council approval.

HERITAGE COMMITTEE (at least 3 Members of the Public)
The purpose of the Heritage Committee is to support civic interest in heritage preservation and assist Council on matters relating to historical and architectural conservation. The Committee will meet on a monthly basis at 11:00 a.m.
 

This is an unpaid appointment.
