Road Closure - 477 Main Street South in Rockwood (Highway 7)

Approval Authority: Ministry of Transportation (MTO)

The Township of Guelph/Eramosa has been advised that a road closure will be taking place at the following location along Highway 7, a provincial highway:

The Township has been advised that the reason for this disruption is due to the extension of water and wastewater services to the Rockwood Academy historical site, which is owned by the Ontario Heritage Trust. 

Construction will be taking place south of Ridge Road, so the intersection at Ridge Road and Main Street South will be open to traffic.  Traffic for the Rockwood Cemetery will be considered local traffic and visitors to the Cemetery will have access by entering the closure heading northbound on Main Street South at the Dunbar Street/MacLennan Street intersection.  Pedestrians will only be able to access the sidewalks that are located along the east side of Main Street South from Ridge Road to Dunbar Street.

This closure has been approved by the road authority for Highway 7, which is the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO).

Local residents will be able to use internal roads to by-pass this closure.

For heavy trucks and non-resident traffic, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has approved detours along the Milton-Eramosa Townline and Wellington Road 44.
