Dolime Quarry Annoucement
The City of Guelph announced today that a possible solution to deal with its ongoing water concerns around the Dolime Quarry has been found. The City is planning to begin public education and engagement sessions about the proposed solution and collect feedback. More information about this announcement can be found at the following link to the City’s website:
From the Township’s perspective the possible solution, if implemented, would result in:
The transfer of the Dolime lands from Guelph/Eramosa to the City – this would be done agreement and there would no annexation of any other lands by the City.
The Township would receive compensation for the loss of property taxes and aggregate royalties for the transferred lands.
All quarrying operations would cease.
The City using for its own needs the water currently being taken by the quarry rather than looking for new well sites in Guelph/Eramosa and surrounding municipalities at this time.
The City’s education and engagement sessions will be open to Township residents to attend. If you have any questions about this issue as they relate to the Township of Guelph/Eramosa, please direct them to Ian Roger, Chief Administrative Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
