Did you know, the Township of Guelph/Eramosa has long been a sought-after location for filming of movies, TV shows, commercials, and more? Our municipality has been featured in a number of well-known productions, including: Netflix's feature film "Frankenstein", directed by Guillermo Del Toro, and the television adaptation of Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale".
In the Township of Guelph/Eramosa, any person or group who will be filming on public property, including roads, or whose filming activities could reasonably be considered to impact surrounding residents (e.g., noise, traffic, visual disruptions, etc) are required to obtain a Film Permit. These Film Permits help our municipality support productions while keeping filming safe, organized, and community-friendly. They allow staff to coordinate access to roads, parks, and public spaces, manage traffic and parking impacts, and help productions connect with the municipal services they may need along the way. For filmmakers, the permit process can also help streamline planning by identifying local requirements early and ensuring everyone, from production crews to residents and businesses, knows what to expect.
